A couple weeks ago I received a package of Zipzicles to try out and review. I must say, I was super excited. You can read about how Zipzicles was started here.
This summer my children and I attended VBS at our church. Since our church is a 30 minute drive and VBS ran from 8:30-12:30, I knew that I would need to pack their lunches. I attempted to make my own Zipzicle type packaging but it did not turn out well at all. I didn't take pictures because no-one needs to witness how bad they were.
So, a couple months ago I found Zipzicles and wanted to give them a try. It is such a simple idea and I cannot believe no-one thought of them sooner. One of the things I like most (besides being super convenient) is that the packages are BPA free and recyclable! I also like that I know exactly what my kids are eating because I make it myself.
Okay, so here is what I did. I made smoothies and put them in the Zipzicle packages.
I am a big fan of tropical smoothies. Here I have coconut milk, kefir (yummy probiotic), pineapple, banana and pureed mangos that I froze in ice cube trays then transferred over to a freezer bag.
I just loved how easy these were to use. Above you see the Zipzicle package and my funnel. They have conveniently put a fill line so you know when to stop.
So easy!
So here they are, all 12 Zipzicles ready to go into the freezer. I put them in two wide mouth mason jars. Next time I make these, I will separate them into three wide mouth mason jars instead of two. When I went to take them out of the jars, they were all stuck. Lesson learned.
All in all it took my about 30 minutes to make these. It would have taken less time but my 4 children kept coming in and asking if they could have one now! These will be extremely convenient throughout the week for the kids to have as a quick snack. I will definitely be buying more Zipzicle packages to keep on hand for when we have field trips.
I was thinking of other ways to use Zipzicles. Our family is hoping to start camping again next year. I'm thinking these Zipzicles will work perfectly for putting eggs in them. I will be able to use them for omlets, scrambled eggs, quick mixes, the possibilities would be endless and I wont have to worry about breaking eggs in the cooler.
And now, it's time for a giveaway! There will be 3 winners that will each receive one package of Zipzicles to try out at home.
