I started using the Explode the Code series with my children five years ago when we first began homeschooling. Each one of my children has enjoyed using these workbooks. They learned valuable skills all while having fun. It didn't seem like work to them so they happily completed their workbooks.
I started my pre-schoolers with the Get Ready for The Code books. It introduced them to letters, sounds, handwriting and so much more! There are three workbooks in this series, Book A, Book B and Book C. Get Ready for the Code is suggested for preschool and Kindergarten.
Get Ready for the Code "covers early literacy skills and letter formation, students will learn through visual, auditory, and kinesthetic activities that include tracing, matching, tracking, copying, and following directions."
After the Get Ready for The Code series, we began the Explode the Code series. There are a total of fifteen workbooks. There are books 1 through 8, as well as books 1 1/2 through 7 1/2. The half books are for re-enforcement of all they have learned previously. Books 1-4 are recommended for 1-3 grades. Books 5-8 are recommended for 2-4 grades.
"Explode the Code is a researched-based, multisensory, Orton-Gillingham based program that builds essential literary skills through direct, systematic, phonics instruction. Providing a comprehensive overview of phonological awareness, decoding, vocabulary, comprehension, fluency, and spelling, students will gain the skills they need to read words, phrases, sentences, and stories on their own."
From October 13 through October 20, Christian Book is offering 35% off select Explode the Code resources.
