If he leads, will I follow?

Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the LORD. For the husband is the head of the wife, as also Christ is the head of the church; and He is the Savior of the body. Therefore, just as the church is subject to Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in everything.
Ephesians 5:22-24

These verses have, at least in my up-bringing, had a negativity attached to them. The word "submit" is, I believe, the center of the negativity. God, however, did not mean for this verse to be negative, or cause resentment. This verse simply tells us how to have a successful relationship with our husband, and more importantly, with God.

I will be the first to confess that I do not let my husband lead as God wants me to. For the first 7 years of our marriage, my husband wasn't interested in leading and I certainly wasn't interested in following. In this past year, however, God has been working on my husband and he is a changed man. He wants to lead. I, however, am hesitant to follow. Not because I don't see changes in him, because I have. Great changes! I am fearful. I am stubborn. I am still hurting. I don't want to let go of control, because letting go of control means complete trust. I have never been one to have complete trust in anything.

Recently, I have been reminded, several times, that in order to be obedient to God, I must let my husband lead. I must lift my husband up and give him the opportunity to lead. My problem; I don't know how. It is something I pray about daily. I pray that God show me how to let my husband lead our home. I pray that my husband will see the changes God is doing in me and will get the confidence to lead our home. I pray that our children will see their father lead our home so that they may grow up and know what their part is in a marriage.

When God created woman, He created us to be a helper to man.

And the LORD God said, "It is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper comparable to him. Genesis 2:18

God made us as helpers, comparable to man. He specifically designed us to help our husbands.

And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall on Adam, and he slept; and He took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh in its place. Then the rib which the LORD God had taken from man He made into a woman, and He brought her to the man. And Adam said: "this is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man" Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh. Genesis 2:21-24

How great is it that God created us specifically to be helpers to our husbands. He created us, that when we become married, we become one flesh. We have been blessed with having the opportunity to have an intimate, trusting, honey I've got your back, relationship. What an awesome love our Heavenly Father has for us, that he would bless us with this opportunity. I pray that I don't ruin this opportunity with my stubborn, self-centered, controlling personality. Because, if I do, I am missing out on one of God's greatest gifts.

Vintage Christmas Wonderland - Review

When I was contacted a few weeks ago and asked if I would review a newly released Christmas album, I couldn't type fast enough to respond and say YES! Christmas is, by far, my favorite time of year.  When I received the Cds, they were wrapped in beautiful burlap and ribbon and decorated with a sparkly snowflake. Along with the Cds, there was a personal handwritten note. It was so sweet and just made the entire experience of this review scream vintage. Vintage Christmas Wonderland by David Ian has a smooth jazzy sound that takes you back to the days when life was less complicated. When I was contacted to review the album, it was described to me as " It's reminiscent of the Charlie Brown Christmas album and meant to bring warmth to the season!".  I can tell you, that is a perfect description. While listening to Vintage Christmas Wonderland, I felt like putting up my Christmas tree just so I could plug in the lights and watch them glow. I felt like starting a
